How to submit an A2P campaign

Steps to Submit Brand Information and Campaign Details

Step-by-Step Guide #

Step 1: Enter Business Details #

  1. Access Trust Center
    • Click on Settings > Phone Numbers > Trust Center.

  1. Start Registration
    • Click on Start Registering Now.
    • Click on Continue.

  1. Answer Questions
    • Answer the following two questions accurately to ensure you are directed to the appropriate brand option.
      • If you have an EIN for your company but want to use a different brand name for your messages, add this sentence in the Campaign Use Case Description for Step 3 – Campaign Details: “We are doing DBA as [Business_Name].” You can register the same EIN for up to 10 brands.

If your business does not have an EIN and only has one employee, register for a sole proprietorship here: A2P Sole Proprietor Brands Registration.

  1. Check Business Name
    • Verify the brand name at OpenCorporates to ensure the business name does not have an EIN.
  2. Enter Business Details
    • Enter the business name EXACTLY as shown on the CP 575. Every line above the address on the CP 575 should be entered as the business name.

  1. Wait for IRS Database Update or Appeal
    • If the EIN was issued recently (within the last 45 days), it takes about 45 days for the IRS to update the Global Verification Database. You have two options:
      • Wait 45 days for the database to update and then resubmit.
      • Reach out to support for an identity status appeal, which involves submitting a request to TCR (The Campaign Registry) to update your information. An identity status appeal costs $10, charged by TCR.
  2. Enter Business Address
    • Enter the business address as shown on the CP 575.

  1. Enter Authorized Representatives

Step 2: Enter Brand Details #

  1. Business Use Case

Step 3: Enter Campaign Details #

  1. Messaging Use Case
    • Provide a description of the campaign purpose.
    • Example: “This campaign sends appointment confirmations, message notifications, and offers for chiropractic adjustments to existing or new patients who have opted in to receive SMS notifications. The communications are sent via the website form.”
  2. Use Case Description
    • If using a different brand name, include the sentence: “We are doing DBA as [Business Name].” Ensure the website matches the DBA business name. You can register the same EIN for up to 10 brands.
    • Explain the type of SMS the client will be sending (e.g., marketing messages, appointments, notifications, etc.).

  1. Sample Message
    • Must include the lead’s name, a staff member’s name, the business name, and opt-out language (e.g., reply STOP to unsubscribe).
    • Example: “David, it’s Kate from ABC Company. Thanks for opting in to receive SMS notifications. I just saved a time for you on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at 4:00 PM, and I’ll see you then! If anything changes, just let me know. If you need to opt out, reply STOP.”
    • Do NOT include custom fields or values.
      • Rejected Example: “Hey {{name}}! Samuel from [write the client’s company name here] here. We remember you had signed up to receive an appointment with us a little while back. When could we get you rescheduled? Reply STOP to opt out.”

  1. User Consent
    • Explain how end-users consent to receive messages.
    • Include all opt-in methods > Opt-In.
    • If using a web form, provide a link to the website opt-in page. The website needs to have:
      • An optional checkbox for message consent (cannot be pre-selected or pre-checked).
      • The opt-in consent message and checkbox must be separated from the T&C/Privacy Policy consent and checkbox.
      • TCR requires separating the checkbox for promotional SMS communications from other SMS notifications. You can omit the T&C/Privacy Policy consent checkbox and hyperlink them in the footer of the form to avoid having three checkboxes (T&C, promotional, other SMS).
      • Include the bolded part like the type of messaging, business name, frequency, and how to opt out.
        • Example: “I agree to receive marketing messaging from COMPANY_NAME at the phone number provided above. I understand I will receive 2 messages a month, data rates may apply. Text HELP to 800-000-0000 for assistance, reply STOP to opt out.”
      • If the checkbox is at the end of the survey or behind an appointment form, include a hosted link to an image of the opt-in.
        • Example: “End users opt in through an appointment form on the website: [appointment form link]. Users check a box with optional consent language to receive messages from us at the end of the appointment form: [opt-in image link].”

  1. Privacy Policy
    • Must include the paragraph: “No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. Information sharing to subcontractors in support services, such as customer service, is permitted. All other use case categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.”
  2. Terms of Service
    • Ensure the Terms of Service include the following points:
      • {Program Name}
      • {Insert program description here; a brief description of the types of messages users can expect upon opting in.}
      • “You can cancel the SMS service at any time. Simply text ‘STOP’ to the shortcode. Upon sending ‘STOP,’ we will confirm your unsubscribe status via SMS. Following this confirmation, you will no longer receive SMS messages from us. To rejoin, sign up as you did initially, and we will resume sending SMS messages to you.”
      • “If you experience issues with the messaging program, reply with the keyword HELP for more assistance, or reach out directly to {support email address or toll-free number}.”
      • “Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.”
      • “As always, message and data rates may apply for messages sent to you from us and to us from you. You will receive {message frequency}. For questions about your text plan or data plan, contact your wireless provider.”
      • “For privacy-related inquiries, please refer to our privacy policy: {link to privacy policy}.”

  1. Opt-In Message
    • Example: “You have successfully opted in for messages from ABC Company. Reply STOP to unsubscribe.”
